WAINWRIGHT TOWNSHIP – After receiving a report of a suspicious person on McGogy Road in Wainwright Township on the afternoon of Feb. 11, officers attempted to make contact before the individual fled in a motor vehicle.

While in pursuit, officers received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Hoey Road where the driver had fled the scene and disengaged their pursuit to investigate.

Officers confirmed that this was a motor vehicle collision involving the suspicious person who fled.

A short time later, officers located the individual and subsequently placed them under arrest.

As a result, a 27-year-old from Guelph has been arrested and charged with fleeing from police, dangerous driving, driving under suspension, driving without insurance, failure to report an accident, failure to remain at the scene, and having an unauthorized licence plate.

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on Feb. 15.
