UPDATE: One person dead after Anicinabe Park incident on Tuesday

KENORA – The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the death of a man who had an interaction with the Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora on Tuesday.

According to the SIU news release, at approximately 12:40 p.m. OPP officers located a man with knives at Anicinabe Park. 

The man set fire to a building. Firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze.

One officer shot the man. The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. The post-mortem is scheduled for Saturday. 

One subject official and seven witness officials have been designated at this time.
