KENORA — A provincial police initiative to apprehend people on outstanding warrants has resulted in three dozen arrests in the Kenora area.
Police this week issued a news release, announcing that Operation Return had concluded its focus on Kenora and the surrounding areas last month, which resulted in 36 arrests relating to outstanding charges ranging from violent offences to drug, property and bail violations.
Police said Operation Return has resulted in the apprehension of 306 people with outstanding warrants and related charges in the past nine months across the North West Region.
"The OPP North West Intelligence Unit will continue to work with OPP detachments and support units in communities across the North West Region, along with our regional policing partners, to arrest individuals who are wanted and evading police," said Det.-Sgt. Bob Steele, the OPP's North West Region intelligence unit supervisor.
"It is our goal to send a clear message to criminals that police — regardless of jurisdiction — will continue to identify and aggressively pursue those individuals who continue to threaten the safety of our communities
