KENORA — Police have arrested two people and seized over $1 million worth of drugs after an investigation into drug trafficking in the Kenora area.
Details of the case were released Tuesday by the OPP, which said its Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau began an investigation in October into the trafficking of fentanyl, crystal meth, hydromorphone and cocaine.
Following the arrest of one individual, on Nov. 19 OPP and Treaty Three Police executed a search warrant at a residence in Pellatt Township that was being rented.
They seized quantities of various drugs, a firearm, paraphernalia related to trafficking, and $4,000 in currency.
Investigators estimate the street value of the drugs at $1,072,000.
A 25-year-old man from Edmonton and a 20-year-old woman from Westbank, BC both face multiple charges including possession of various drugs for trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
They were remanded into custody pending their next court appearance.
