ZEALAND TOWNSHIP – Officers with the Dryden OPP are reporting an incident of an unruly individual in the early evening of Feb. 23.

During their investigation, officers suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol, but when the officers requested a breath sample, the driver refused.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP detachment for further testing, where they found the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was also involved in an assault incident, which had taken place at the residence on Feb. 21.

As a result, the 50-year-old from Dryden has been arrested and charged with spousal assault, impaired driving, resisting a police officer, and driving under suspension.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the court at a later date.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
