OPP identify victim of fatal collision on Highway 17

IGNACE — Ontario Provincial Police say they have confirmed the identity of the person who died in a motor vehicle/pedestrian collision on Highway 17 in Northwestern Ontario.

The deceased was a 58-year-old man from Scugog Township, Ont. Police did not provide the victim's name. 

He was killed on Sept. 26 when he was struck by a tractor-trailer as he was walking along the highway just west of English River.

The highway was closed for almost eight hours while police investigated.

In an update issued Tuesday, OPP said that although the investigation is ongoing, charges are not being considered at this time.
