OPP investigating death in Sioux Lookout

Investigators do not believe there is an imminent threat to public safety.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – Provincial Police are investigating the death of an individual in Sioux Lookout.

Members of the Sioux Lookout OPP received a report on May 10 of an individual who had been transported to local hospital, where they later died.

The Ontario Provincial Police North West Region Crime Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to determine the cause of death.

The investigation by the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. They do not believe there is an imminent threat to public safety.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have been in Sioux Lookout in the area of Queen Street and Sixth Avenue on May 9 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., is asked to contact the Sioux Lookout OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
