RED LAKE, Ont. – A Timmins man faces numerous charges after allegedly attempting to evade a RIDE check in the Red Lake region.

While conducting a RIDE check on Highway 125 at Dellenor Road, Ontario Provincial Police say officers with the Red Lake detachment observed a motor vehicle attempting to evade the sobriety inspection.

Shortly after, the motor vehicle was found in a ditch on Balmer Creek Road.

Officers determined the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, a 21-year-old from Timmins was arrested and charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and flight from a peace officer.

In addition to those charges, the suspect was charged with several provincial offences including driving without a licence, driving with cannabis readily available, driving with open liquor, and failure to report damage to property on the highway.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in February 2024.
