ATIKOKAN – Lock it or Loose it says the OPP after an increase in theft from vehicle incidents.

The Atikokan OPP say they became aware of an attempted break-in to a vehicle in the Maple Crescent area of the town on May 19. This report follows several other property related incidents that have been investigated in the surrounding area.

The OPP are requesting the public’s assistance in solving this or any similar crime. If anyone has evidence of suspicious activity in the Maple Crescent area of town at or near 11 p.m. on May 18, you are encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Police would like to remind the community that leaving your vehicle unlocked and/or with valuables in plain view offers would-be criminals an easy opportunity to victimize vehicle owners.
