OPP rescued two intoxicated people who fell into a lake

SIOUX LOOKOUT — Ontario Provincial Police officers intervened to help save the lives of two people at risk of drowning over the weekend.

According to OPP, the incident happened Sunday on Pelican Lake in the Sioux Lookout area.

Police said the officers leapt into action to save a pair of intoxicated individuals who had fallen into the water off the public floating docks.

The two were given a medical assessment.

Both individuals, along with another person, were subsequently arrested on charges of possession of property obtained by crime.

OPP said the alcohol they were consuming was allegedly stolen from a local business.
