OPP traffic campaign results in hundreds of charges

The Dryden area OPP focused on traffic safety last week for their week-long Canada Traffic Campaign.

DRYDEN – Officers with the Dryden and Ignace OPP detachments recently laid 483 speeding charges and 215 Highway Traffic Act charges.

Other charges during the Canada Road Safety Week campaign included 12 impaired operations, four distracted driving, and one stunt driving charge.

According to OPP Northwest Region, the week-long campaign resulted in 787 charges with 194 warnings.

The OPP says it remains committed to its Provincial Traffic Safety Strategy, which aims to reduce and prevent injuries and fatalities and enhance safety on roads, waterways and trails.
