Pair charged with drug trafficking after traffic stop

KENORA – Two people are under arrest after a traffic stop led to the discovery of more than $18,000 in drugs.

Kenora OPP, in a release issued on Wednesday, said they made the traffic stop on Dec. 4 in the area of Highway 17 East.

Police said the seized 25.34 grams of suspected fentanyl, two eight-milligram hydromorphone pills and other evidence of drug trafficking.

A 36-year old male from Kenora and a 26-year-old female from Grassy Narrows First Nation were charged with possession of fentanyl and hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking.

Both accused are being held in custody pending a court appearance.
