Police arrest impaired boater

The OPP stopped the vessel on Howey Bay late Saturday night after it was seen operating without proper lighting.

RED LAKE — Provincial police arrested a 39-year-old with impaired boating over the weekend.

Police said officers stopped the boat on Saturday night at about 11:30 p.m. on Howey Bay after it was operating without proper lighting.

The investigation led officers to determine the operator was impaired by alcohol. The individual was arrested and brought to the Red Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

The accused is charged with one count of impaired operation, and has been released from custody with a September court date.
