MINTO, Ont. – Three Kenora-area residents face weapon and drug charges after being stopped with suspected cocaine.
Officers with the Kenora OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Minto area of Kenora around 12:45 p.m. on Monday after receiving a weapons complaint, the force reported in a release.
Officers seized suspected cocaine during the investigation, the OPP said.
Police proceeded to execute a search warrant on a local residence, which they say turned up a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition.
Police charged Aaron Paypompee, 34, of Kenora with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order - two counts
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose
Glendon Loranger, 66, of Kenora was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose
Both suspects were held in custody and were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on Tuesday.
Police also charged Shayde Desrosiers, 30, of Northwest Angle No. 33, with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
Desrosiers was released from custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on Oct. 30.
