Police investigate death in Shoal Lake

The Treaty Three Police Service and OPP are investigating a death in Shoal Lake 39 First Nation.

SHOAL LAKE 39 FIRST NATION – According to the OPP, on Jan. 17 police were investigating an incident where an individual was located on a roadway and was later pronounced deceased.

The OPP stated in a news release that the deceased has been identified as an 18-year-old from Shoal Lake 39 First Nation.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, the Treaty Three Police, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

The body of the deceased was taken to Toronto for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police believe there is no threat to public safety.
