Rainy River District OPP arrest 3 impaired drivers on same day

Saturday was a busy day for provincial police officers in the Rainy River district when it came to nabbing impaired drivers.

Provincial police said three people were arrested for impaired driving offences on that day.

In the first incident, officers in Fort Frances arrested a 33-year-old from Heron Bay at around 2:30 a.m. The accused faces two impaired driving related charges.

Around noon, officers in Atikokan stopped a vehicle after the automated licence plate recognition found a possible unlicensed driver. The investigation found the accused was impaired by alcohol. A 37-year-old Atikokan resident is charged with impaired driving and driving a vehicle without a licence.

Then, around 6:30 p.m., Fort Frances OPP officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle on the King's Highway. The investigation determine the accused was impaired by drug. Drug residue was found in the vehicle. A 44-year-old from Devlin is charged with impaired driving and drug possession.
