Rainy River OPP lays assault charges in Lake of the Woods

Officers arrested a 23-year-old from Big Grassy First Nation after two individuals were assaulted with a weapon.

LAKE OF THE WOODS – On the evening of Feb. 3, officers with the OPP responded to an assault in the Rainy River district.

According to the OPP, officers arrested a 23-year-old from Big Grassy First Nation after two individuals were assaulted with a weapon.

Both individuals were sent to Kenora Emergency Medical Service and released with minor injuries.

As a result, police charged the 23-year-old with assault, assault with a weapon, and impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on March 28.
