SIOUX LOOKOUT— Good news for Sioux Lookout residents came from Red Apple Stores on Thursday. After the collapse of a portion of the store’s roof, Red Apple Stores ULC announced they intend to return to Sioux Lookout.
The Company shared that they are in the process of locating a new or temporary location within the community, in case the present building cannot be repaired.
When asked about a projected re-opening date, the Company indicated that at present, they could not provide one, but that they would provide one as soon as further information becomes available.
"Getting open to serve the community of Sioux Lookout once again is our top priority. What happened was very unfortunate, and we are thankful that no one was injured," says Clinton Wolff, president and CEO. "We have been part of the Sioux Lookout community for over 14 years, and I assure you we are working hard to secure a location and welcome our customers back as quickly as possible."
On March 4, 2022, Sioux Lookout Fire Department was called to the Red Apple Store on Front Street, as a result of the roof collapsing. Fire chief Robert Popovic at the time said there were four employees and no customers inside the store at the time, and that all staff managed to evacuate safely.
For over 20 years, Red Apple Stores have been providing big-name brands and quality products and savings to small town residents. The Municipality of Sioux Lookout waits for further updates regarding when this retailer will once again be part of their community.
