RED LAKE—Event planned for Indigenous Peoples Day by Red Lake Indian Friendship Centre includes a fashion show that will feature local designers Linda Lundstrom, Linda Kay and Patrick Hunter Art and Designs.
The Indigenous Peoples Day Fashion show will be held at the Royal Legion on June 21,2022, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Fashion designer Linda Lundstrom founded her brand in 1974, and since then has had her line of outerwear, clothing and accessories sold in top retailers across North America and Europe, including Hudson’s Bay Company and Nordstom.
Linda Kay Peters is an Ojibway/Cree born in Red Lake, Ont., who currently lives in British Columbia. There she is a member of the Seabird Island Band. Through her company, Ringing Bell Robes, Peters creates garments that display her First Nations heritage and her interpretation of these cultures.
Her clothing and accessories can be found at Pow Wows, art markets, and traditional gatherings. Linda Kay Peters has displayed her work through fashion shows in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Montana.
The other featured special artist and designer is Patrick Hunter. Patrick Hunter is a 2 Spirit Ojibway artist, graphic designer, and entrepreneur from Red Lake, Ont. In 2011, he made the move to Toronto to pursue a career in the arts after completing the graphic design program at Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Patrick Hunter continues to make a name for himself in the corporate world through artistic and graphic collaborations with RBC and BMO Banks, Ernst & Young, West Elm, Staples Promotional Products. eBay Canada, CTV and Global Affairs Canada.
All funds raised at Red Lake's Indigenous Peoples Day Fashion show will go towards Red Lake Anishinaabe Pow Wow Circle.
