RED LAKE VOLLEYBALL

RED LAKE -- Red Lake Volleyball has a bright and exciting future for sure, as the dynamic duo of Chamberlin and Cianca will be competing at the 2022 Ontario Summer Games
Red Lake can be very proud of these two graduating Grade 8 St. John School students, Roslyn Chamberlin and Isabella Cianci (posing L-R in picture), as they are two of only 60 girls selected province wide by the Ontario Volleyball Association to participate in the 14U division (born 2008) at this year’s Ontario Summer Games that will be held in Mississauga July 22 - 24. The two lifelong friends and elementary school teammates are only two of four girls that will be playing 14U division volleyball and representing Northwestern Ontario at this year’s Ontario Summer Games.
St. John School Intermediate Girls Volleyball Coach Tom Doherty states: “I have been blessed with coaching some really talented players over the years, but it’s truly rare that in one’s coaching career, to have at this age, two players like Rosie and Isabella on the court together that possess such raw talent. In addition to their God-gifted talent, they also have the ambition, drive and passion to excel both on and off the court and I can’t wait to see where this sport will take them in life!”
The Red Lake duo will first participate in a five-day training camp at the University of Guelph Fieldhouse from July 17 - 21, which will expose them to an elite performance style of training and is designed for athletes with the skill set to play at the premier level of competition within the 14U age division. Immediately after training camp, they will head to Mississauga to participate in the Ontario Summer Games and compete in both beach and indoor volleyball. For indoor, if their team gets first, second, or third, they will receive a gold, silver, or bronze medal (The Ontario Volleyball Association is also hoping to live stream these games on YouTube, so please keep an eye out on the Team Ontario website https://teamontariovolleyball.org for further information). For beach, it is an introduction for many of the athletes at this age group, so it is the opportunity for many of them to compete in beach for the first time while at the Ontario Summer Games.
