Three people face several charges after being found with two loaded firearms while stopped at a RIDE checkpoint east of Fort Frances.
Provincial police were conducting the checkpoint on Highway 11 at Highway 502 on Monday night, where a vehicle came through and was found with the firearms and open cannabis. finding two loaded firearms and open cannabis.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-years-old from Vaughn, a 24-years-old from Fort Frances, and a 28- years-old from Fort Frances have been arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm - two counts
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition - two counts
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm - two counts
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Prohibited or Restricted Weapon - two counts
- Transfer Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Without Authority - two counts
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose - two counts
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
In addition to the weapons charges the 28-year-old was charged with driving with cannabis readily available.
The accused parties were held for bail and will appear in court on Tuesday.
