DRYDEN – In a Facebook post, Fire Chief Chris Wood has provided an update on an apartment fire that started on December 19.

According to Wood, when fire crews first arrived, they “encountered heavy smoke on the second floor, located the affected apartment, and extinguished a kitchen fire.”

Meanwhile, OPP Northwest, Dryden Fire Services, and EMS evaluated the building while additional fire crews ventilated the smoke from the building.

Residents were eventually allowed to return to their homes shortly after 7 p.m.

“Despite the heavy fire damage sustained by the unit of origin, we are relieved to report that all other residents were able to return safely to their homes,” says Wood.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Wood stated, “Working smoke and fire alarms played a crucial role in alerting residents, enabling a safe and timely evacuation.
