FORT FRANCES – The Rainy River OPP is making progress on a mail theft investigation reported on Dec. 4, 2023, according to OPP.
On the morning of Jan. 22, a 59-year-old from LaVallee Township was charged with possession of stolen mail and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused is the second suspect to be charged in connection to the mail theft.
In December 2023, OPP charged a 56-year-old woman from La Vallee Township after a joint investigation with Canada Post's Security Investigation Services.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on Feb. 26.
