Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm watches for a large portion of Northwestern Ontario.
The advisories were issued Thursday, with favourable conditions expected in the afternoon and evening for the development of severe thunderstorms that could be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.
Environment Canada said the wind gusts could approach 90 kilometres per hour, and hail could measure nearly two centimetres in diameter.
The watches are in effect for an area including Kenora, Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances.
