Shuniah man charged after collision in Atikokan

ATIKOKAN — A resident of Shuniah has been charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision early Wednesday in Atikokan.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded at about 8:00 a.m. to the site of an accident at Highway 622 and Sumac Road.

They took the driver into custody after he allegedly failed a roadside screening test.

He was then taken to the Atikokan detachment where additional breath testing was conducted by a qualified technician.

The 40-year-old man will appear in court on May 29.

Police impounded his vehicle for seven days, and his driver's licence was automatically suspended for 90 days.
