ATIKOKAN — A resident of Shuniah has been charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision early Wednesday in Atikokan.
Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded at about 8:00 a.m. to the site of an accident at Highway 622 and Sumac Road.
They took the driver into custody after he allegedly failed a roadside screening test.
He was then taken to the Atikokan detachment where additional breath testing was conducted by a qualified technician.
The 40-year-old man will appear in court on May 29.
Police impounded his vehicle for seven days, and his driver's licence was automatically suspended for 90 days.
It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
