SIU steps in after suspect injured during Kenora arrest

Incident occurred early in the morning on Feb. 16.

KENORA – An incident in Kenora has led the Special Investigations Unit to invoke its mandate in Kenora.

According to a release by the SIU, the province’s arm’s length investigatory body, at about 5 a.m. on Feb. 16 OPP were called for service in the Main Street South area.

An individual was subsequently arrested and while being taken into custody, sustained injuries while exiting the residence in question.

The person was then taken to hospital for treatment.

As a result of the SIU investigation, OPP will not provide any further information about the case.
