KENORA -- The community safety zone on Rabbit Lake Road has been extended, community officials say.

As a result, the speed limit has been reduced to 40 kilometres per hour from Valley Drive, heading west on Rabbit Lake Road, for 2.3 kilometres. Signs have been posted in the area reminding motorists of the new speed limit.

The community safety zone is designed to promote safe road use for motorists and pedestrians.

"This proactive change is aimed at reducing the risk of vehicle-pedestrian accidents and enhancing overall safety," a release, issued on Friday, reads.
