Suspect arrested in vehicle thefts case

KENORA — Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora have arrested a suspect after reported vehicle thefts.

Officers were dispatched to the area of South Park Drive on March 8 around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious male. 

According to OPP, the complainant reported observing a male attempting to access parked vehicles. CCTV footage of the incident was also provided to the police.

Investigating officers patrolled the area and observed the interior lights of a pickup truck turning on, police said.

Upon arrival, officers located a male matching the suspect's description removing items from the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Sioux Lookout man was arrested and will face five charges, including trespassing and theft. 

In a media release, Kenora OPP reminded residents to secure their vehicles and report suspicious activity.
