Synergy North president and CEO retiring in May

Tim Wilson has had an extensive career with the utility, joining Thunder Bay Hydro as the manager of market compliance in 2001.

THUNDER BAY -- The president and chief executive officer of Synergy North will retire on May 15.

Tim Wilson has had an extensive career with the utility, joining Thunder Bay Hydro as the manager of market compliance in 2001.

Since then, he has held a variety of leadership roles - such as customer service manager and vice-president, customer and information services.

Wilson led strategic planning for the new corporation and played a key role in the merger between Kenora Hydro Electricity Corporation Ltd. and Thunder Bay Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. 

He became the president and CEO in May of 2021. In addition to president and CEO, Wilson is the chair of the Electrical Distribution Association and director for the MEARIE Group.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as president and CEO at Synergy North. I’m leaving with a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing that the company is in capable hands," Wilson said in a media release.

"My sincere thanks to everyone who has been part of the journey."

Chair Gary Armstrong offered the board’s gratitude to Wilson for his “exceptional leadership.”

“His vision and dedication have been instrumental in Synergy North’s success. We thank him for his exemplary service and wish him the very best in his retirement.”

The board of directors will begin searching for a new president and CEO in the coming weeks.

Synergy North provides electricity to customers in Thunder Bay and Kenora.
