Third death in 30 days linked to drug overdose

Police are investigating a suspected drug overdose that resulted in the death of a Fort Frances resident, warning of a recent uptick in the Rainy River District.

FORT FRANCES - Provincial police are investigating a suspected overdose in Fort Frances, following two other recent suspected overdose deaths in the Rainy River District. 

Officers were called to a York Avenue home around midnight on Thursday, July 6. When emergency services arrived, they located a 42-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

In a release, the OPP warned the man's death is the third suspected overdose in the last 30 days. An OPP spokesperson confirmed those deaths all occurred within the force's Rainy River District Detachment catchment area.
