Three people arrested after man assaulted

MISHKEEGOGAMANG — Three suspects, including two youths, are facing charges of aggravated assault following an incident in Mishkeegogamang First Nation on Wednesday.

Nishnawbe Aski Police Service officers responded to a call for service about a possible assault in progress on Johnson Avenue in the evening.

Officers located a possible crime scene and learned an adult male victim had been allegedly assaulted by multiple suspects.

The man was taken to the health clinic and police say the exact extent of his injuries are not known at this time, but they are believed to be serious but non-life threatening.

Three suspects were identified and arrested on Thursday afternoon.

A 17-year-old male, a 15-year-old male and a 27-year-old male, all from Mishkeegogamang First Nation, have been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police withheld the identities of the youth accused, in accordance with the youth criminal justice act.
