RED LAKE — Three people have been issued fines after pleading guilty to improper moose hunting.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry announced the penalties, totalling $11,000, for the group after they pleaded guilty to charges from a hunt last October.
The ministry said conservation officers received a tip on Oct. 9, 2022 that a group of people were hunting moose from a boat on Alford Lake.
As a result of the investigation, conservation officers found the group had a moose licence for a different wildlife management unit than the one where they were hunting, and that the moose had been shot from a boat.
The case was heard in a Kenora court earlier this year.
