Traffic complaint leads to arrest

Rainy River OPP has arrested and charged one individual with impaired driving in Atikokan.

ATIKOKAN – According to Rainy River OPP, officers received a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver on the afternoon of Jan. 18.

Officers said they located the motor vehicle on Highway 11 east of Perch Lake Road and initiated a traffic stop.

Through their investigation, officers believed the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Officers placed the driver under arrest and transported the individual back to the Atikokan detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 54-year-old from Fort Frances has been arrested and charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court in Atikokan on Feb 22.
