Transport truck driver dies in Highway 17 collision

A tractor-trailer and an SUV collided Tuesday night near Kenora.

KENORA — The driver of a tractor-trailer unit has died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17A at Kenora.

Ontario Provincial Police said the deceased individual was operating a truck that ended up in a collision with a passenger SUV at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A passenger in the transport truck suffered life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries.

Highway 17A remained closed until about 11:00 a.m. Wednesday while the investigation into the collision continued.

A detour was available via the old Highway 17.
