FORT FRANCES — Providing a false name proved to be the undoing of a man found trespassing in the Fort Frances area.

OPP have released details of an incident on CN Rail property last week.

They said that after railway police stopped a person for trespassing, the intruder identified himself as someone else.

Unfortunately for him, officers decided to check, and found out the name he provided was that of a person who was wanted by OPP.

The railway police then called OPP for assistance.

When he realized he was in trouble, the trespasser ran to a wooded area, where he was spotted hiding behind a tree.

The man then tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended after a pursuit.

After confirming his true identity, OPP found he was wanted on several arrest warrants.

A 22-year-old Fort Frances resident now faces charges of personation with intent to avoid arrest, along with charges related to four outstanding arrest warrants.
