DRYDEN – Ontario Provincial Police in Dryden have charged a 36-year-old Kenora man with firearms offences after an incident at a business on Highway 17 in Machin.
Police also charged a 36-year-old woman with a variety of offences related to the incident.
OPP, in a release, say they were called to the business at about 10 p.m. on Nov. 12, noting a fail to stop led to additional charges being filed against the woman.
As a result, the 36-year-old man has been charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, four counts of failure to comply with a release order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, resisting a police officer, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The 36-year-old woman was charged with operation while prohibited, flight from peace officer, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Police are asking anyone who lives in the Golden Lake area to check to see if their property is secure and if anything is missing, to phone OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
The accused have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
