Two arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

ATIKOKAN — Two local residents face drug charges after their vehicle was stopped by police.

Provincial police said officers conducted what was initially a routine traffic stop on Mercury Avenue in Atikokan on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers ended up finding suspected cocaine, psilocybin and cannabis.

A 24-year-old from Atikokan is charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, while a 22-year-old from Atikokan is charged with drug possession, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, and driving a vehicle with an open container of alcohol.
