Two people facing assault, weapons charges in Ignace

Two people were charged after police responded to an incident in the small town.

IGNACE — Three OPP detachments worked together on an investigation that led to multiple charges against a local resident. 

OPP with the Ignace detachment, as well as Red Lake and Dryden, have charged a 34-year-old Ignace resident with spousal assault. 

On Jan. 19, officers responded to an incident at a home on Balsam Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

Police arrested one 34-year-old suspect who is facing nine charges, including multiple assault offences and firearms-related charges. 

A second suspect was also arrested and faces firearms-related charges. 

The accused have been released from custody and have future court dates. 
 
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim.
