Weapons charges laid in Sioux Lookout investigation

A 46-year-old Ottawa man was arrested after police found weapons and two prohibited devices during a search of a Sioux Lookout residence.

SIOUX LOOKOUT -- An Ottawa man faces weapons charges after an investigation at a Sioux Lookout residence turned up firearms and a pair of prohibited weapons. 

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release, said officers executed a warrant and during their investigation, located a shotgun, a handgun, two prohibited weapons and ammunition, which were seized in the name of public safety. 

Matthew Parkinson, 46, was arrested and charged with careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition and two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition. 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 30.
