Webequie teacher charged with sexual assault of a minor

A 26-year-old Holland Landing, Ont. man faces three charges in connection with the alleged assault, which involved a 15-year-old boy.

WEBEQUIE, Ont.  — A teacher in Webequie First Nation has been arrested and charged with sexual assault against a minor.

According to a release issued on Monday by the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against a minor began in September.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned a teacher in the community had allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old boy.

Police obtained an arrest warrant and took the accused into custody without incident.

Twenty-six-year-old Noah John Sisson, of Holland Landing, Ont., has been charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age and sexual interference.

Sisson was remanded into custody following an Oct. 7 bail hearing.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and investigators urge anyone who may have information, may have been a victim or who may know potential victims, to contact NAPS Northwest Crime Unit at 807-623-2161, ext. 6114.
