ATIKOKAN – Mayor Rob Ferguson is correct when he says the world hasn’t “heard the last of Alex Sampson.”

The Atikokan-born and -raised Sampson is following up on his semifinal run on America’s Got Talent with a new seven-song EP that drops next week.

“The town is very, very proud of Alex,” Ferguson said Wednesday as AGT’s 19th season was drawing to a close.

“He represented our community so well, and his performance and personality made us all proud,” the mayor added. “He is a great ambassador for Atikokan.

“I don’t think the world has heard the last of Alex Sampson.”

Sampson, 20, told Dougall Media his new EP includes the three songs he performed on AGT.

“I’m very excited about it,” he said, adding “I’m always working on new music.”

Sampson said he has “nothing but positive things to say” about his experience on one of North America’s most popular talent competition programs.

“I had the most wonderful time on the show – and if they ever want me back, I would be more than happy to go back,” he said from Los Angeles.

The support from Atikokan residents was “great” and appreciated, he added.

Sampson performed the original ballad “Wallflower” on last week’s semifinal telecast with his parents watching in the show’s large studio audience.

“You’re so adorable,” judge Sofia Vergara chirped. “You’ve got the girls going crazy.”

The show’s Canadian-born judge, Howie Mandel, predicted the song will “be on the charts tomorrow. You mark my words.”

Another judge, Simon Cowell, said he hoped viewers would vote Sampson through to the finals.

Alas, Sampson was eliminated from the competition.

The final six acts performed Tuesday night; the winner will be announced tonight.

Hopeless Romantic, Sampson’s sophomore EP, is set for release Sept. 27. Information is available on his socials.
