FORT SEVERN — Police have arrested a woman following an alleged stabbing incident in Fort Severn First Nation.

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS), working out of the Fort Severn First Nation detachment, responded to reports of a disturbance at a residential address early Friday morning.

When officers arrived, they found an alleged stabbing had taken place, leading to the transport of a male to the community nursing station for evaluation and treatment of sustained injuries.

As a result of a continued investigation, police have identified a 29-year-old woman as a suspect.

Within an hour of the initial call for service, the woman was found and taken into custody.

She has since been charged with aggravated assault and three counts of failure to comply with an undertaking.

She appeared in court for a bail hearing on Friday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
