OLIVER PAIPOONGE – The Kenora Islanders haven’t put up much of a fight this season.

Heading into Friday night’s match against the Kam River Fighting Walleye they’d given up double-digit goals five times in 23 outings.

Make it six in 24.

Carter Nailen scored twice and added a pair of helpers, leading the host Fighting Walleye to an 11-0 romp over the visiting Islanders at the Norwest Arena.

At the other end of the rink, Sam Keene was perfect, stopping 17 of 17 Kenora shots to record the shutout, his first in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

Jett Mintenko had a hat trick and an assist and Daxton Lang scored twice and added three helpers to help pace the Kam River attack.

Singles went to Callum Halls, Cole Piccinin, Carter Poddubny and Nico Simeonni.

With the win the Fighting Walleye improved to 15-8-0, while Kenora dropped to 2-20-1.

The two teams meet again on Saturday at the Norwest Arena.
