Albert Ormond Saasto of Hilldale Road, Thunder Bay, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his parents Hans and Edith. He is survived by his sister Helen (Bob) Marshall of Toronto, and several cousins.
Bert attended Cornwall School and PACI, then studied geology at Trent College, Peterborough, then worked in Haileybury.
He enjoyed canoeing, walking, reading and classical music.
Bert was a caretaker at Battle Island Lighthouse for a number of years.
A private funeral service will be held on December 19 at 10am at Everest Funeral Home, 299 Waverley St, at Algoma.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
