The family of Arnold Lehto sadly announce his peaceful passing at the age of 89 at St. Joseph's Hospice on December 21, 2024.
Long-time resident of Kaministiquia, ON, and later Suomi Koti of Thunder Bay.
Survived by wife Janet (Peuramaki) of 66 years, son Joe Lehto and daughters Wendy Lavergne, Shelley Norris (Craig), and Patsy Runke (Ken); granddaughters Allison (Sean), Erika (Graham), Jillian (Brock) and Andrea (Phillip); great grandchildren Julia, Owen and Liam; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Predeceased by parents Anna and John Lehto; sisters Hilkka McLean and Eila Belrose; son-in-law Paul Lavergne and niece Carol Martin.
Arnold was a frequent visitor at local senior centres, enjoyed a competitive game of cribbage and was known for his infectious laugh.
As per Arnold's wishes there will be no funeral service.
Cremation has taken place with internment to follow at Dog River Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to thank health care providers at TBRHSC, Bayshore Health, and the Rehab/Hospice teams at St. Joseph's Hospital.
