Mrs. Audrey Lorraine “Laurie” Cech (nee Huggard), age 85 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, March 17, 2025 with her family by her side.

Audrey, aka Laurie, or Doodie as she was affectionately known by family, was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on July 26, 1939. Her good friend Lillian has many fond childhood memories of “Doodie Bug” as Laurie was known back then.

Audrey met Clifford E. Cech and they were married on July 19, 1958. Together, they started their family and Laurie dedicated her life to taking care of her children and their home. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with family and friends. Laurie was a faithful servant of Jehovah and was a member of Kingdom Hall. Laurie had a huge heart and would help anyone who needed her help. She had a great sense of humour and was always telling jokes to get a laugh. Laurie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Audrey is survived by her loving daughters Pamela Gosselin, Norine Cech and Karen (Pauli) Puro; grandchildren Mikko, Amanda, Stephanie and Luke; great-grandchildren Brayden and Keegan; sister Corinne Isaac of Winnipeg; brothers-in-law George Ball of Selkirk and Andy (Eleanor) Cech; sister-in-law Joyce Cech as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clifford Cech; her parents, Percival and Mabel (nee Meyers) Huggard; her siblings Lucy Gunter, Robert Huggard and Charles Huggard; her great-grandson Tyson Gosselin and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

As per Audrey's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Service to Celebrate both Audrey and Clifford Cech will be held with details to be announced. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Laurie to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
