On the snowy Sunday evening of March 23, 2025 Bob slipped away quietly. He was 85. After a lengthy illness he reluctantly gave his last fight.
He will be forever remembered by his wife Myrna, whom he would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on July 2nd.
Survived by his mother Ann Zale and sons Michael (Lance, Vanessa, Michael Jr.), Todd (Scott, Jennifer) and 2 great grandchildren, daughter Marla (Brett, Mitchell).
Predeceased by son Derrick, father Michael Zale, father-in-law Wiggo Ohlgren, mother-in-law Verna Ohlgren. Surviving brothers Dennis, Greg, sister Lori and brother-in-law Brent Ohlgren and sister-in-law Diane Lloyd.
Bob was a proud Mason and Master of Lodge #287. He was an honourary 32nd Degree in Scottish Rite, a member of Khartum Temple and Lakehead Shrine Club, 50 years past Master, 60 years a Free Mason. It was a memorable day when grandson Brett became a Mason also.
Bob was on the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers from 1998 – 2003. A member of Shuniah First Response Team from 1991 – 1993. He served as councillor for Shuniah for 3 years, was a past Master of Loyal Order of Moose Port Arthur Lodge #947; he was on the Ontario Provincial Police and Shuniah Police Service Board 2008 – 2016 and received the Senior of the Year Award Municipality of Shuniah 2017.
Remembering Bob will be easy.
He was our everything.
Rest in peace Bob – Derrick is waiting.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
