Mrs. Constance Marilyn Kosolowski (nee Baker), age 89, resident of Mississauga, Ontario passed away peacefully after a short illness on June 1st, 2024 with her family by her side.

Marilyn was born on August 18th, 1934 in Toronto, Ontario but grew up on Cuthbertson Place in Fort William. There she met her beloved John Kosolowski, a hockey player from Port Arthur, whom she married in 1954. Marilyn and John moved to Marathon, Ontario where he worked as a welder and she was a lab technician establishing many friendships that have endured the years. Their children, John, Jim and Linda all were born in Marathon before John and Marilyn packed up and moved back to Fort William in 1965.

Marilyn focussed on raising her family in the early years then worked as a secretary at Fort William Collegiate Institute for many years once her children were older. She moved on to work at Isabella Street School before retiring. She and John were active volunteers in the Thunder Bay community being members of the Thunder Bay Conservation Club for many years raising funds through hunter safety courses and selling Christmas trees to aid in local conservation projects. Marilyn volunteered with the Fort William Figure Skating Club sewing costumes for skating shows or helping in the judges or accounting room. She loved the back room work so much that she became an accredited accountant for the Northern Ontario Section of Skate Canada. Marilyn spent many hours in the accounting rooms of figure skating competitions or test days across Northern Ontario and was invited to be part of the International Skate Canada competition in Calgary in 1987. Her desire to give back to the community continued in Peterborough where she helped the local figure skating club as well as volunteering at the Peterborough Community Care organization which helps seniors and adults with disabilities.

It was 1998 when John and Marilyn moved to Peterborough to be closer to their children and grandchildren living in Ottawa and Mississauga. They spent many a weekend following their grand-daughters around softball diamonds as well as relaxing with family at Crown Point in the Ottawa area. They were avid travellers and spent years ‘RVing’ from coast to coast across Canada to see children, grand-children,family and old friends from Marathon. Many trips were made to the southern United States,Hawaii and Mexico along with cruises to the Caribbean, Panama and Alaska. Family and friends were very important to Marilyn and John and they would always reach out to say hello to old friends and relatives re-kindling new friendships over the years.

In 2017 Marilyn moved to Mississauga to be closer to her daughter and grand-daughters where she continued to make new friends and always lent a helping hand supporting new friends or acquaintances. She rekindled her love for knitting and was donating her projects to hospitals, fund-raisers or those in need.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Allan and Edith Baker, John her beloved husband of 61 years as well as brother Fred Baker. Marilyn will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her siblings Marjorie Stephen and NancyTaylor (Tony); sister-in-law June Baker; her children John (Carolyn Seitz), Jim (Shelley Baigent) and Linda (Marc Jarvis); her five grandchildren Adam Kosolowski, Mark Kosolowski, Scott Averin (Jasmine), Samantha Jarvis and Rachel Jarvis; her great-granddaughter Hattie Averin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
