It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Eileen Faulconer, known as Dorie, on June 12 from an unexpected stroke. Dorie passed peacefully in TBRHSC ICU with many family at bedside.
Dorie was born April 6, 1947 in Grandview Manitoba. She was the daughter of June Ruddock and Isaac Faulconer.
At the age of 16 Dorie moved to Thunder Bay where she got her first job at The Tropics where she waitressed for Charlie. This was the beginning of her becoming the strong and independent person she was known to be. Dorie continued to achieve her degree in social work and psychology. However, it was her true passion to help individuals with physical and developmental disabilities.
After retirement Dorie moved to Castlegreen Co-op and resided there until her passing. Dorie was well known and a beloved friend, an active volunteer for many social gatherings and fundraisers. Dorie was an active member of Our Saviours Lutheran church where she continued her abiding faith in God.
Dorie was known to be a kind, generous and loving person. She always accepted people with an open heart and open arms. She enjoyed the times spent with her Castlegreen community and especially with her two very well-loved grandchildren, Solena and Leo. She was their biggest supporter and she was very proud of all their accomplishments in life.
