It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Francesco Mollame, who left us peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 13, 1935, in Aiello Calabro, Cosenza, Italy. Francesco embarked on a journey to Canada in March of 1959, seeking a brighter future for his beloved wife and daughter. He arrived by ship and settled in Thunder Bay, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and tradition.
Francesco dedicated 35 years of service to the Manitoba Pool 3 Grain Elevators, where he was a respected and hardworking employee. Outside of work, he took immense pride and joy in his family. His love for gardening, hunting, and crafting homemade sausages and wine was well known, and he found great pleasure in sharing the fruits of his labor with those he loved. He also enjoyed playing the organetto, filling family gatherings with lively music that brought joy to everyone around him.
An avid fan of classic television, Francesco never missed an episode of Jeopardy!, The Price is Right, or Wheel of Fortune. He cherished the simple moments spent with family, whether around the dinner table or enjoying a quiet evening together. His warmth, generosity, and strong family values will be forever remembered by those who were blessed to know him.
Francesco is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 69 years, Erminia; his cherished daughter Concetta (Giuseppe); his grandchildren John (Silvana), Frank (Danis), and Michael (Maria); and his great-grandchildren Cristian, Joseph, Lucas, Isabella, Anthony, Eliana, and Noah. He is also survived by his sister Rosaria Filice of Thunder Bay and his sister Esterina Mollame in Italy. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Maria Arella and Matilda Perri and brothers-in-law Guerino Filice (Raffaela) and Antonio Filice (Lina) as well as numerous nieces and nephews in both Canada and Italy.
He was predeceased by his parents Gaetano Mollame and Concetta Lepore, his brother Luigino Mollame (Veneranda), his in-laws Battista and Rosina Filice, brothers-in-law Rosario Filice, Guido Lepore, Giuseppe Arella, Gino Perri, his nephews Vince Rizzo and David Filice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, especially the compassionate caregivers of 2C, who provided exceptional care and comfort during his final days.
